Government Minister Caught Up In Political Betting Scandal
Government minister Lord West has denied that he made a bet on Labour to lose the next general election.
The Security minister and former head of the Royal Navy was named by the Daily Telegraph as the minister who had placed a wager on his party to be shunted out of No.10.
Lord West denied these allegations, he said: “I have never placed a bet on Labour losing the election.”, “I have never placed a bet at all while a minister ever on a political issue,”.
The bet was apparently made on the time that Gordon Brown succeeded Tony Blair as prime minister.
